Upper Lid Blepharoplasty

Upper lid blepharoplasty surgery, also known as an eyelid lift, is a procedure to improve the appearance of the upper eyelids. Blepharoplasty can correct drooping eyelids, and may also be done to improve vision by removing excess tissue that hangs down over the eyelashes.

The incision for an upper lid blepharoplasty is made in the crease of the upper eyelid. This incision follows the natural lines and contours of the eye, so it will be well-hidden once it heals. The skin and underlying fatty tissue are carefully lifted and trimmed away. Excess skin is removed and the remaining skin is re-draped and sutured shut.

Most people return home the same day as their surgery and experience minimal discomfort. Recovery from upper lip blepharoplasty surgery usually takes about two weeks. During this time, patients should avoid strenuous activity, direct sunlight, and makeup on the incisions. After two weeks, patients can typically resume their normal activities and enjoy long-lasting results.
