Excision Skin Lesions

Skin lesion surgery is used to remove lesions from the skin, including moles, warts, and other growths. The area around the lesion will be numbed with a local anaesthetic before the procedure. The scalpel is used to remove the lesion and a small amount of surrounding tissue. The wound is then closed with sutures.

You may want to consider this surgery if you have a skin lesion that is unsightly, or it is located in an area where it frequently gets irritated. Lesions can also become cancerous, so removal may be recommended for preventive purposes.

Skin surgery is performed to treat or remove an unwanted lesion that may be too big, bothersome or uncomfortable. The most common type of skin surgery is an excision, which is a procedure that involves cutting out the lesion and repairing the wound with stitches.
